Israel's historical memory and public discourse, with regards to anything related to Palestinians, are dominated by the use of depoliticized language, victimhood and an ethnocentric nationalism. Each of these elements reinforces the others, disempowering the Israeli public and preventing effective change from being made. This presentation and discussion focuses on how the Israeli national consciousness was formed and how it is developing today.
