Professor Paul Searls, author of "Two Vermonts: Geography and Identity 1865 - 1910," is the initial speaker in the Harold Meeks Memorial Lecture Series on Vermont topics near and dear to Hal Meeks, a long-time Brownell Library Trustee and UVM Geography professor who specialized in Vermont. Searls discusses the dichotomy between hill folk (uphill) and townies (downhill) and how their divergent views have shaped our state.
