Moni Basu, reporter for CNN Digital, delivered the keynote address at the 2016 Women's Empowerment Symposium hosted by Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont.

Basu is an award-winning journalist with 33 years of experience and a specialization in narrative writing. She is particularly interested in writing about trauma survivors, human resiliency and matters of race and identity. She has covered India, the Iraq War, the 2004 presidential campaign and the Haiti earthquake as a member of CNN Digital's Enterprise Team, which strives to bring storytelling and magazine-style narratives to a website known for breaking news. She also serves as a guest lecturer at Emory University, Georgia State University and the University of Georgia and is the author of the 2012 book Chaplain Turner's War.
