Katharine Montstream speaks about her new body of work and life as a painter for 25 years. Featuring her new exhibit “After Hours-The Queen City; Dusk to Dawn" as a backdrop.

"I like to think that I push the puddles of color around the paper. Unpredictable things happen when you drop paint onto a wet piece of paper….from there you can hope for some interesting results." - Katharine Montstream

Katharine grew up in Wethersfield, Connecticut where she took private art classes as a child exploring the Wethersfield Cove, banks of the Connecticut River, farm stands and gardens of her hometown. She also took classes at the Wadsworth Athenaeum in Hartford. After a degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado, Katharine studied art with Larry Goldsmith of Fairfax, Vermont for seventeen years and she credits him for exposing her to an expressive way of painting. More recently Katharine has taken workshops in oil painting with Wolf Kahn, Eric Aho and Stuart Shils.
