We live in a time of constant change and economic uncertainty: a time that is defined as much by our need for high quality, ongoing professional learning as it is by the inability of many school systems to keep pace with this ever growing need. This is the era of the connected educator: teachers, librarians and school technologists who understand how to leverage the power of social media to connect with and learn alongside other educators from around the world. In this frank discussion, Jennifer LaGarde will share the true story of how developing a Personal Learning Network (PLN) changed her professional life. She will challenge participants to reboot their perception of “professional development” and to consider what implications this shift in thinking has on our work with students, while also providing a plethora of tools to help teachers begin the journey as a “connected educator.”
