"I Am Vermont, Too" Reveal and Black Lives Matter Day
The "I Am Vermont, Too" photo/story project focuses on the experiences of people of color throughout the state of Vermont, challenging racial microaggressions and the racists acts and behaviors that often go unchecked. The project culminates in a series of events that include community dialogue, storytelling, and a photo exhibition at the Vermont State House during the month of February, 2017. This project was organized by Shela Linton, Senowa Mize-Fox, & Alyssa Chen.
This event launches Black Lives Matter Weekend and connects people of color from around the state to form authentic partnerships and build a statewide people of color caucus. The caucus is designed to further facilitate networking opportunities, collaborations, professional support and community organizing. The project’s systemic goal seeks to bring people of color to the forefront of the Vermont-based Put People First movement.
