Eyes on the Land: Gowri Savoor
Gowri Savoor creates environmental sculpture and works on paper. She brings art to communities and believes in the power of participatory art events. She is a participating artist in the Eyes on the Land exhibit, organized in partnership with Shelburne Museum and the Vermont Land Trust, thirteen Vermont artists and the owners of conserved Vermont lands.
ARTIST STATEMENT
"After a lengthy process of collecting, classifying and processing, I combine [site-specific installations and sculpture] with materials that are paradoxical in nature; for example, pine needles with steel. Although both are derived from the earth, there is a strong disconnect between the two, both in substance and process. This pairing creates a tension within the piece which I use to recreate topographical landscapes and ephemeral shadowy worlds." Read more at eyesontheland.org
