George Washington Spied Here: Spies & Spying in the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783) George Washington's familiar image as a Founding Father and epitome of open dealings and straight-forward leadership finds a fascinating contrast with Washington's talents as America's first spy master and first military intelligence officer.

This talk focuses on the new insights on the Nathan Hale story as well as a history of General Washington's most successful spy ring, the so-called Culper Ring of Long Island and New York (1778-82). There are surprises in the back story of Captain Nathan Hale's failed spy mission to New York City as well as new details on the key Culper Ring, which has been featured in the current television series, TURN, based on Alexander Rose's magisterial account of the Culper Ring in a recent book.
