Alice Fogel is the author of Strange Terrain, a guide to helping people appreciate poetry without necessarily “getting” it. Her third collection, Be That Empty, was a national poetry bestseller. She’s a six-time Pushcart nominee and recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. Her poems have appeared in many journals and anthologies including the Best American Poetry and Poet’s Choice. Her new book, Interval: Poems Based upon Bach’s Goldberg Variations, won the Nicholas Schaffner Award for Music in Literature and is forthcoming in 2015. She is New Hampshire’s State Poet Laureate.
