Benjamin R. Clarke, adjunct lecturer of French at Saint Michael's College, talks with RETN's Scott Campitelli about this simple approach to learning a new language. Active Language Learning (ALL) mimics the low-stress, embodied approach that you used to learn your first language. Body movement involves much more energy than passive listening. Thus ALL allows the learner to amplify the impact of words on the nervous system. Clarke explains the ALL approach of focused practice of movements in association with words that he uses teaching French at St. Michael's College.
