Ever wonder where your plastic bottles, metal cans and other recyclables go when they leave your blue bin? In Vermont, they're probably headed for the Chittenden Solid Waste District Materials Recovery Facility (MRF – rhymes with Smurf) in Williston. That's where those items get sorted, baled and shipped off to market. Let's go!

In this video, we take you backstage to see what really goes on in this amazing facility. Watch as your blue bin resources travel along conveyors, past spinning discs, over mechanical paddle arms, and through the fast-moving hands of hard-working people on their magical journey through the MRF.
