Program Description:

Philanthropist and filmmaker Charles Annenberg Weingarten and the explore.org team set out on a philanthropic fact-finding mission to India, where they see the challenge of keeping ancient customs alive in a fast-moving society. Over the ever-increasing white noise of traffic, cell phones, and street chatter, it can be difficult to hear the sounds of the natural world and the traditional music that is an essential part of India's cultural history.

On their journey, explore.org meets John Singh, Maneka Gandhi, and Sangeeta J.K., all extraordinary individuals who have mastered the art of listening and who have dedicated their lives to preserving India’s captivating melodies. With their guidance, explore.org discovers the possibility of modernity, without forgetting the sounds of the past.
