Program Description:
A young Burlington woman died on a chilly September night in 1830 one week after having an abortion. The inquest that followed implicated a University of Vermont medical student and raised questions about the involvement of several local physicians. Although abortion was not illegal at the time, anyone who performed or procured it could be charged with murder if the woman died as a result. Yet no charges were filed in this case and virtually no trace of the woman
