Program Description:
Transportation systems provide the mobility to travel when we want and where we want. For many of us, particularly in rural places like Vermont, this mobility is provided by our personal vehicles. This automobility has environmental, social, and economic impacts ranging from the costs of fuel to green house gas emissions and dispersed land use settlement patterns. In this talk, Dr. Richard Watts, a researcher at the Transportation Research Center at UVM, examines vehicle use and auto dependence in Vermont and reviews some of the possible alternatives.
