Annika Ljung presents this analysis. In Canfield Fisher's novel The Brimming Cup, the question of presence shapes itself as a metaphysical struggle between two separate modes of being. In this ongoing research of the ontological nature of Canfield Fisher's fictional universe, these modes of being are referred to as Ego and Self.
