Program Description:

Concerns about the cost, availability, and environmental impacts of the generation and distribution of electricity have grown sharply in recent years. In Vermont, decisions about the state's energy future are imminent as the contracts to buy energy come to an end. This case study explores the planning for, and conflict around, the siting of new high-voltage transmission line in Vermont known as the Northwest Reliability Project. It focuses on the construction of knowledge by citizens, town officials, and energy planners. Presented by Richard Watts, Policy Fellow, The Snelling Center for Government.
