Program Description:
Susanne Rappaport, the wife of the late documentary photographer Neil Rappaport, discusses her newly published book, Messages from a Small Town: Photographs Inside Pawlet, Vermont. Susanne discusses the work of her late husband which she has recorded in the book. Through his work he created a visual census of the town, one that serves as a time capsule of life in Pawlet from 1980 - 1990. Interviews with the subjects of the photographs supplement the photographs. Susanne shares slides of Neil's photographs, as well as slides of contrasting photographs of two early 20th century photographers Nellie Bushee and Ella Clark.
