Program Description:

The decade of the 1930s is continuously more appreciated by historians as a period of extraordinary nationwide social ferment, assimilation, and adjustment to mass culture and the modern order. The paradigm applied to the decade increasingly is that, above and beyond any government program or policy, common people of all types themselves "made a new deal." The great degree to which this was true in Vermont did much to shape fundamental aspects of the state
