Program Description:
For the past 12 years James Kochalka has drawn American Elf, a diary comic strip chronicling his life as a cartoonist, rock star, husband and father living in Burlington, Vermont. He was won three Ignatz awards and a Harvey award for this body of work, which appears weekly in Seven Days and daily online at AmericanElf.com. His other major work for adults is SuperF*ckers, about a team of teenage super heroes living in a club house. (This graphic novel's setting is the field which used to be the town dump, next to the bike path between the Intervale and the Ethan Allen Homestead here in Burlington.) Kochalka is better known in younger circles for his children's book series, Johnny Boo.
