Program Description:

Archbishop Elias Chacour is a three-time Nobel Prize nominee and recipient of the World Methodist Peace Prize and the Japanese Niwano Peace Prize. A Palestinian citizen of Israel, he promotes a vision of peaceful coexistence. He first built a library, then a community center, and most recently, the Mar Elias Educational Institutions which serve educational needs from kindergarten through university, the only campus in Israel which welcomes Christians, Muslims, Jews, and Druze.

In this presentation, Archbishop Chacour reflects on Israel's sixtieth anniversary and the Nakba. The talk is sponsored by the Edmundite Center for Peace and Justice, Pax Christi Burlington, Vermonters for a Just Peace in Palestine/Israel, and the Sisters of Mercy Northeast Community.
