Program Description:

Author Garnet Keizer has lived and worked in Vermont since 1975, when he attended the University of Vermont as a graduate student. He taught English at Lake Regional Union High School in Orleans from 1979 to 1996, and has served as the vicar of Christ Episcopal Church in Island Pond since 1983, and as its priest for the last ten years. He is the author of "No Place But Here: a teacher's Vocation in a Rural Commuity," "A Dresser of Sycamore Trees: The Finding of a Ministry" and "God of Beer" (a novel about young people in rural Vermont). His latest book is "The Enigma of Anger: Essays on a Sometimes Deadly Sin." His essays "Why We Hate Teachers" and "Sound and Fury: The Politicis of Boise" appeared in Harper's. Keizer lives in the Northeast Kingdom with his wife and daughter. This presentation is CRV's 2002 annual meeting presentation.
