Program Description:
Chuck Lacy examines the history of the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho and the military's impact on local history. A history of the range since the early 1950s traces the emergence of the modern defense industry and the extraordinary technical achievements of GE Burlington. Just 15 years after testing machine gun saddles and only five years after the electrification of neighboring farms, GE was using the range to test gun turrets for nuclear bombers.
