Program Description:

More than 17 million Americans suffer from coronary heart disease, a condition caused by a buildup of fat deposits, cholesterol, and substances in the arteries that can lead to chest pain, heart attack, and heart failure. Associ- ated health care costs totaled an estimated $475.3 billion in 2009, according to the American Heart Association, but Ades’ research shows these costs – and future cardiac events – can be greatly reduced if a patient participates in a cardiac rehabil- itation program. Learn about the benefits of rehab, the value of tailoring rehab activities to patient needs, and how embarking on a healthy lifestyle and exercise program can help prevent a heart attack and yield anti-aging effects.
